Three Legendary Pianos
Casio’s new AiR Grand Sound Source provides not just one, but three of the world’s finest grand pianos. Dubbed the Berlin, Hamburg, and Vienna Grands, each one is the result of countless hours of precise analysis and study of their unique characteristics. They are faithful and expressive recreations of these distinctive pianos. String/damper resonance, mechanical sounds, and other subtle nuances complete the experience of owning three of the finest pianos on Earth. A total of 26 Tones are included, including other essential instruments like organs, electric pianos, harpsichord, and more.
Berlin Grand Sound Developed With C. Bechstein
When speaking of the C. Bechstein piano, Claude Debussy declared, “Piano music should only be written for the Bechstein." This history of C. Bechstein pianos begins with the company’s founding by Carl Bechstein in Berlin in 1853. Now, Casio has joined in collaboration with this renowned piano maker to develop the “Berlin Grand" tone, a balanced, elegant sound with a clearly defined shape. To create its exquisite clarity of tone and vibrancy, Casio analyzed the tone color of the ultimate C. Bechstein masterpiece, the D282. The resulting sound meets with the approval of C. Bechstein master piano maker Werner Albrecht, and has been incorporated into the AP-710 as the “Berlin Grand."
Unrivaled Detail
The AP-710’s sound is delivered by the new AiR Grand Sound Source, with 256 notes of polyphony. It uses Linear Morphing technology to create smooth, dynamic transitions from the softest to loudest sounds, as well as Damper Resonance to accurately recreate the experience of the strings resonating against the piano’s soundboard when the damper pedal is pressed. String Resonance accurately models the harmonic relationships between the vibrating strings, allowing the notes to interact with one another. Hammer Response allows control over the time between pressing the key and hearing the strings, and Key Off Simulation allows control of a note’s decay by how quickly the key is released.
Ebony And Ivory-Textured Keys
The AP-710 features Casio’s Tri-Sensor II 88-note scaled hammer action keyboard. Casio’s superior engineering has resulted in an authentic piano touch that captures every detail and nuance of your performance. This scaled hammer action provides the weight, feel, and resistance of a grand piano without the need for tuning or regular maintenance of an acoustic instrument. Furthermore, the keys feature simulated ebony and ivory textures, providing a positive grip for confident playing.
Education Features
The AP-710 features a total of 26 built-in tones, with the ability to layer two sounds or split the keyboard to allow a bass sound in the left hand. It has a built-in library of 60 songs that can be practiced at any tempo utilizing the dual headphone outputs or the powerful 20W per side speaker system. Duet Mode allows student and teacher to practice at the keyboard simultaneously.
A new Speaker On/Off function allows the internal speaker system to be disabled, an ideal solution for music labs and various other settings.
